GTCC’s aviation electronics, management, and systems programs offer students several educational pathways into the growing aerospace industry in the heart of North Carolina. 

At GTCC, you can finish your bachelor’s and master’s degree in aviation at the T.H. Davis Aviation Center. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University has an articulation agreement with GTCC allowing you to complete a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree at Embry-Riddle without leaving the GTCC campus in Greensboro, N.C.

Aviation Electronics Technology

Aviation electronics are the electrical systems used by aircraft to maintain safe flight. Also known as avionics, technicians need strong problem-solving skills and an understanding of electronics, electrical systems, and computers. They also need to be able to identify, create, and fix electrical systems in aircraft.

All AMQCP courses are designed based on local workforce demands, providing you with the hands-on training and equipment you need to jumpstart your career.

Composite Technology

Composites are versatile and used for structural applications and components in aircraft and spacecraft. They are used from complete airplanes to wing assemblies, helicopter rotor blades, propellers, seats, and instrument enclosures.

Learn to manufactures, assembles, installs and adjusts the parts that make up the structure of an aircraft. This rapid training is desired by aviation employers.

High School Programs

Career and College Promise offers North Carolina high school students the chance to earn college credits at a community college campus. The program is tuition-free for high school juniors and seniors (semester fees will apply). 

Career Outlook

Boeing forecasts 804,000 new pilot jobs worldwide by 2038. Along with the pilot increase, the company anticipates a need for 769,000 maintenance technicians.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, "Overall employment of aircraft and avionics equipment mechanics and technicians is projected to grow 5 percent from 2016 to 2026, about as fast as the average for all occupations." In addition, the bureau says, "Overall employment of airline and commercial pilots is projected to grow 4 percent from 2016 to 2026, slower than the average for all occupations."
